COWOC

Introducing Our Diverse Region

Prince George’s County (PG County), Maryland, holds a significant place in American history, particularly as it relates to the transatlantic slave trade. Established in the 17th century, PG County was home to numerous plantations where enslaved Africans were forced to work. These individuals played a crucial role in shaping the economic and cultural landscape of the region. Today, PG County is a testament to resilience and transformation, honoring its complex history while fostering a diverse and vibrant community committed to education, economic development, and cultural preservation.

OUR GOALS

One of our goals is to address the larger needs of the community. We aim to establish a “COWOC Center” at the vacant Macy’s in Marlow Heights. We intend to provide economic development and opportunities to a depilated community by giving them a chance and restoring their human dignity by creating avenues for their empowerment. Receiving financial support will go a long way in revitalizing the community. This building will help forge a foundation in our community that started a decade ago between For Profit TeamGOV, Non-Profit Dreams Works, Faith Base Community of Hope AME Church, and Prince Georges County organizations. Our foundation was able to provide resources that were not available to our community during the Global Pandemic.

• 300,000 boxes of food
• Over 100,000 Masks for those in need
• We donated 25,000 rolls of toilet tissue to Prince George’s County to give to senior citizens when toilet tissue was not available in the grocery store.
